A deep thinker and passionate advocate, Gaven was born and raised in Brusly, Louisiana. He is a proud alumnus of Holy Family School in Port Allen and Catholic High School in Baton Rouge. For college, Gaven made the 15-hour, one-way trek up to South Bend, Indiana, where he studied business, political science, and theology. He stayed on with the University of Notre Dame, joining the Echo Program for his Master’s degree in theology while teaching full-time at Andrean High School in the Diocese of Gary, Indiana. Gaven loved teaching and his students, and happily remains in contact with many as they continue to grow their lives and careers. He then returned home to study law at LSU and began his legal career with the law firm McGlinchey Stafford, PLLC. Following the firm’s closure, Gaven joined the construction litigation team at Taylor, Wellons, Politz & Duhe, LLC.

Gaven still teaches theology as a catechist with St. Aloysius Catholic Church’s OCIA program, and leads the theological formation group within Catholic High School and St. Joseph Academy’s Catholic Leadership Encounter program. He loves running, cocktails, good food, and good conversation. Gaven lives in Baton Rouge with his wife, Dr. Emily DeVillier, O.D., and their cat Roux (she’s brownish orange and white, like the start of any good gumbo). When not home, Gaven loves traveling, especially to all places Disney.
